Before Christmas I was working on a shot of Earth from space. In this shot camera was dollying far from Earth to it’s surface. So it was apparent from start that I will need quite high resolution textures. In this post I will show one possible way of memory efficent merging of huge textures.
Lately there has been a lot of research in area of volumetric effects. One interesting enhancement to volumes is rendertime displacement. It is not that difficult to set up and results are great. You can achieve high resolution volume with low res input volume. In this post I will show how it can be set up with Arnold and Houdini.
